ADVENT AND CHRISTMAS SERVICES
Advent is the four Sundays before Christmas, when the church celebrates the coming of our Lord anew. We light the candles of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love and renew the birth of Christ in our hearts. During this season, we have a special Children''s event, usually a Christmas musical that includes Santa coming in and sharing the Real Reason for Christmas (His other name is Jesus!).
The most beautiful service of the year is our Christmas Eve Service, from 6-7 pm, with candlelight, singing, communion and the entry of the Christ Child. This is a must for all who want to have a truly Christmas Holy Day.
LENTEN AND EASTER SEASON
Lent is a 6 week time of prayer, penance and development of Spiritual focus in preparation for Easter. Starting with Ash Wednesday this season echos the 40 days that Jesus spent in the wilderness in preparation for his life of ministry before his crucifixion.
Easter week starts with Palm Sunday, the entry of Christ as a living part of our earthly experience. On Wednesday we have a Seder Passover meal, on Thursday we have the most somber and almost sad service of the year, the Maundy Thursday service. By the end of the service we have covered the Sanctuary in black and most of the lights have been extinguished.
On Easter Sunday, we have a Sunrise service at 7 am at our Prayer Garden and Living Fountain, followed by a breakfast for all. At Easter Service we baptize those who have committed their lives to Christ and celebrate the victory over death and sin that Jesus bought for us.
OTHER SPECIAL WORSHIP SERVICES:
In February we worship at our Ash Wednesday Service.
In April we have Laity Sunday, when 4-5 of our reglular members preach on "the stump".
In May, we have Mother''s Day one week and Youth Sunday the next, special times of Celebration. Also this year in May we will have Pentecost Sunday.
In June, the last Sunday we celebrate Father''s Day and Patriotic Sunday.
In October we celebrate the Church Anniversary with special worship, gospel singing, stump preaching and dinner on the grounds.
In November we celebrate Thanksgiving Sunday, being thankful to our Father God for all the blessings He has bestowed upon us.
